Ancient Homies

lespecial's third full-length album, released December 4, 2020 on Ropeadope. The number three runs through it — a power trio, a “tri-face” logo, a third record — down to the three improvised “Homie Numero” interludes on tracks 3, 6 and 9, built on a cryptic, unstable scale that recurs across the album. Its themes are travel between planes, physical and metaphysical, threaded with samples from 1950s and ’60s sci-fi and horror films.
